“Will Divorce Docs work for me?”

Divorce Docs is a perfect fit for couples who have come to a consensus on the terms of their marital settlement.

To determine whether or not Divorce Docs can help you, ask yourself the following questions:
Are you aware of, or willing to research, your legal rights?
Are you confident your spouse is not hiding assets?
Do you know that you are not being taken advantage of or pressured into an unfair agreement by your spouse?

If the answer to all of these questions is “yes,” we can help you. If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” you may need to seek the legal representation only an attorney can offer.

How long does the legal document preparation process take?”

Once you have provided all the information required, we can usually have your documents ready for your review within 2 weeks. After your documents are complete, you have 30 days to approve your documents or request revisions. Since most people approve their documents in far less time, many of our cases are filed within 15-30 days from submitting your questionnaires.

Once your case is filed, your divorce will be final according to the court’s schedule. It could be as little as 30 days, or several months, depending on their case load as well as other factors.

“What does your fee for legal document preparation include?”

Our package prices include:

Completing your documents according to the information you provide
Digital copies of your completed documents for your review and approval prior to printing.
Printing of one copy of the documents for signing and filing at the courthouse.
Thorough instructions for signing and filing your documents.
*Prices do not include court filing fees, which must be made by money order or cashier’s check payable directly to the Clerk of Court. The current filing fee for a Dissolution of Marriage is $408 for filing together. Prices do not include the Florida Parenting Class required by the state for both parties in a Dissolution of Marriage with Children. Fees are generally $25-40. Additional paper copies of documents: 10 cents per page.

“If we decide not to divorce, can we get a refund?”

We cannot offer refunds, because we cannot “undo” your documents. We advise you to wait if there is any chance of reconciliation.

“Are you attorneys?”

We are not acting as your attorneys, and do not give legal advice. Divorce Docs cannot represent you in court or tell you what to say in court. Please see our disclaimer page for more information.

“Are you opposed to attorneys?”

Absolutely not. If your case is highly contested or complex, we strongly urge you to hire an attorney. Even in uncontested cases, we suggest that you and your spouse each have a consultation with an attorney at some point in the process if you feel you need legal advice. Feel free to ask us for a referral.

“Can you help us if we don’t live in the Pensacola/Destin/Panama City area?”

Yes, as long as one party has lived in Florida for at least six months prior to filing, we can help you. We obtain the necessary information using online questionnaires, which can be completed from anywhere in the world.
